Everyone knows the genocide of the Jews; the fact that the Romanies were victims of the same criminal and racist policies is unknown or ignored.
Beautifully portrayed through the individual stories of Vera, Tibor, Anna and Antonie, and woven together with the music and poetry of the Romas, this film brings alive the dignity of the Romany People from within the Czech Republic. The brutal and relentless persecution of the Romany People, unleashed soon after their arrival in Europe, has been one of the greatest untold crimes of European history. The tragedy is that this persecution continues. Thousands of Romanies are arriving on the shores of England, but the Home Office consistently turns them away. We tell their story, see the misery, live their imprisonment, and ask why do they keep coming?
